The Problem

The Problem: Expansive Soils

Unstable soil conditions exist throughout the United States and result in billions of dollars of damage to property each year, more than the damage from earthquakes, floods, hurricanes and tornados combined.

Expansive clay soils are subject to seasonal swell.shrink cycles due to changes in moisture content in active zones beneath foundations or roads.

Untreated expansive soils can lead to distressed foundations, cracked walls, sticky doors, and distressed roads.  Although such problems
can be severe, the good news is that if the subsurface soil has been stabilized, it will no longer experience extreme movement due to changes in its moisture content.

Expansive soils affect:

  • Building pad sites
  • Driveways
  • Walks
  • Pools
  • Decks
  • Parking Lots
  • Roads & Highways
  • Airport Runways
